Life in Colorado
By PK | June 27, 2008
Dalton surprised me yesterday when he came home for lunch. Usually with the price of gas, he doesn’t do this, but since he’s working at a job site for a few days that is closer, it was a welcome surprise. Normally, I’m hard at work on the computer working on a new website, but he caught me…playing a game. I had to listen to him teasing me about a life of luxury. You’d think I was sitting around watching soaps and eating bon-bons. Well, I don’t watch soaps and I don’t eat bon-bons, but I do have the TV on while on the computer and can sometimes be found eating yogurt.
I figured I would make up for my indiscretion by preparing him his favorite dish…elk. So, I thawed out some ground elk burger to grill outside for dinner. That seemed to appease him somewhat, but he still continued to tease me about my ‘life of luxury’.
After dinner, we usually take a stroll around the campground. I know he does it for me, to get me out of the RV for awhile. This is very sweet of him, as I know he works hard every day and is tired when he gets home. But the elk burgers must have done the job, because not only did we stroll around the campground, but we also went for a drive north of Steamboat towards Hahn’s Peak. It’s beautiful traveling along that road, as there are many ranches, cattle and horses, lots of green pastures and rustic, log homes. There’s also a chance to see more wildlife.
I took this picture as the sun was setting, driving along Elk River Road.
We had a wonderful evening and we count our blessings every day.
*We’ll be going to Fish Creek Falls this weekend. Be sure to stop back and see the pictures of the Falls.

Just read this one post and had a good laugh! I can easily imagine this happening to me! It’s just that we don’t have elk here in the south of France
And he would tease me too! You’re blog looks very attractive, I love your pictures. I’ll be fencing for the rest of the day and probably bringing in hay tomorrow but I hope to be back to read a bit more about your life in Colorado on Monday. We traveled through Colorado in 1998, it is indeed beautiful and who knows we’ll be back some day …
Have a great weekend!
