Colorado and Steamboat Ski & Snow Report
By PK | November 20, 2008
For some people skiing is a hobby, for others it’s a way of life, a lifetime passion. Gary L. Wall, owner of Associated Building & Remodeling of Steamboat, commented “It’s my life, I live for it!” Gary is an avid visitor of the slopes and has lived in Steamboat for 10 years and skied here since 1980. For the locals- this Gary L. Wall is ‘Not the Sheriff’.

Steamboat Ski Resort is scheduled to open in 6 days, on November 26, 2008 for Scholarship Day. The specially priced ticket revenues will benefit the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund that provides financial support for deserving local children participating in club programs.
Full season opening day is November 27, 2008. Although Steamboat Ski Resort remains closed at this time, it is reportedly as having a 14″ base with a total of 27″ of snow.

Storm Peak is looking great through the eyes of my camera and what better way to report the snow conditions by stepping outside and snapping some pictures of Steamboat Ski Resort and Howelsen Hill from our deck.

For more information about the Steamboat Ski Resort, read my previous article, Steamboat Springs 2008-2009 Ski Season.
Steamboat Ski Resort and Howelsen Hill have been blowing snow preparing for opening season. Almost every morning when I awake, grabbing a cup of coffee, I gaze out the windows to witness Howelsen Hill’s snow machines hard at work.
Howelsen Hill, today
Howelsen Hill is scheduled to open December 6, 2008 for the 08-09 Ski Season. Howelsen Hill Ski Area is the oldest ski area in continuous use in Colorado. It has sent more skiers to international competition than any other area in North America. Howelsen has been the training ground for more than 64 Olympians, 15 members of the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame, and 6 members of the National Ski Hall of Fame.
Both ski areas are visible from downtown Steamboat with Howelsen Hill only 1 block away. Many resorts here in Steamboat are offering skiing packages. Check out the great deals today and reserve your spot on the slopes!

I find in amazing that home made snow is throw on the slopes, I though that was just for the olympics winter games events. Well you learn sometning every day, but then I never been to a skiing resort before let alone ski. Looks like it’s downhill all the way after five more days.

Perhaps I’ll get closer to the slopes and take a picture of them blowing snow. You’d be surprised how simple the machine looks. Thanks for visiting.

I saw this post after I wrote my last comment. Any additional updates up through the opening weekend would be great! Keep up the great work, your posts are wonderful! (nice view from your deck!)
