Steamboat Springs Fourth of July Events

    By PK | July 1, 2008

Cowboy Roundup Days…a rodeo, a parade, a cattle drive through downtown, and fireworks are just a few of the activities you’ll find in Steamboat Springs, Colorado this weekend.

Events kick off at 6am, Friday, July 4th with a community all you can eat pancake breakfast at the community center, followed by the 17th Annual Steamboat Sprint, one of Steamboat’s Running Series.

Don’t miss the First National Bank of Steamboat Springs Fourth of July Parade on Lincoln Avenue beginning at 10am, July 4, 2008.

After the parade you’ll still have time to see Art on the Mountain at Gondola Square from 10am to 4pm or catch the Pioneer Day Block Party with Strings in the Mountains at the Thread of Pioneers Museum starting at 11:30am, July 4th.

The best is yet to come for all you cowboys and cowgirls, Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series begins at 7:00pm Friday, July 4th, at the Romick Arena, with July Fourth Fireworks after the rodeo at dark. Come early and get a good seat!

Plenty to do Saturday, July 5th, too. Come see all the local vendors at the Farmer’s Market from 8am to 2pm. The market includes food, crafts, and live music. I stopped by last Saturday and bought a floppy hat from one of the vendors. Really came in handy later when I went hiking.

Polish those boots again for Saturday, July 5th, and go to the Romick Arena at 7:30pm for Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series.

Get your cameras ready on Sunday, July 6th, at 10am for the Saddleback Ranch Cattle Drive down Lincoln Avenue. In honor of over 100 years of Western Heritage, local cowboys will route 110 pair of cattle down Steamboat Spring’s main street.

Learn about ranching and Steamboat’s cultural countryside with Cow Town Ranch Tours starting at 1pm till 4pm or catch the Ranch Horse Competition at the Romick Arena which also starts at 1pm and has free admission. For more information at the Cow Town Ranch Tours, contact Steamboat Central Reservations.

Mountain Valley Bank Ranch Rodeo begins at 5:00pm at the Romick Arena and has free admission.

I’ll be grabbing my boots, cowgirl hat, and camera and hitting several of these events this weekend. Check back for details and pictures of my Fourth of July Weekend. Everyone have a safe one!!!
