From Longmont to Estes Park, Colorado on Rt. 36
By PK | August 5, 2008
Another leg of our journey from Steamboat to Longmont and back, is the trip along Rt. 36. On the way to Longmont we traveled through Big Thompson Canyon, but on the flip side we decided to take Rt. 36, part of which was Route 66 out of Longmont, also known as Spur 66. And boy, was I surprised. The closer we got to the Estes Park, the scenery was becoming more and more beautiful. It would make a lovely drive if you don’t want to pay the fees to enter the Rocky Mountain National Park. So get your map out and plan a drive down this road. We found it pretty busy on the Saturday evening we ventured Rt. 36, but well worth a little traffic.
If you’re not from this area and can’t enjoy this awesome drive, I hope you sincerely enjoy these pictures. I’d like to say that I love to hear from readers who may or may not ever come to Colorado, that through my website they can enjoy God’s beauty and ruggedness of these mountains.
