Denver going to the Dogs??
By PK | June 25, 2008
In the past several weeks I heard several stories about coyotes (cousin to the dog family) in and around the Denver area. The latest is the story about a coyote who jumped a fence in a community in Lakewood and killed the resident’s pet dogs. This is sad and my heart goes out to the owners. I know how a pet can become ‘part of the family’.
Another incident reported was a family’s pet cat being dragged off by coyotes. Again, another sad episode.
While those stories are sad, this one is bizarre. It was about a ‘woman’ who jumped a fence, and assaulted a dog in a sexual manner.
Okay, obviously, she hasn’t all her marbles and is now in ’special care’.
But what about those coyotes?? It brings me to think about our right to bear arms. Because in this case, it surely is needed. I recently did some research about shooting these wild creatures that can be so destructive to our lives.
It seems half of Colorado are divided, some for the destruction of these animals and some against it. The advantages to shooting them in this article was to increase the deer population for the hunters. So, I ask…what’s wrong with that? The state makes a lot of money off hunting licenses, Colorado being a popular state in which to hunt. What does the state make off coyotes??? Nothing!
I bet if the half of the population of Colorado that is against shooting coyotes had pets that were carelessly destroyed by coyotes, they’d change their point of view.
I’d say, Annie…get your gun!!!
