    Kansas

    By PK | June 12, 2008

Two weeks ago, Dalton and I decided that Kansas just wasn’t where we wanted to live. We’d been there for two months and during that time, spent many nights watching the weather channel, feeling the RV shake, and hearing the howling of the wind. He was concerned….I was terrified. I lived in West Tennessee and knew more about tornadic activity, straight-line winds, and, unfortunately, experienced several tornadoes. Living in an RV or any mobile home, just isn’t the safest place in the world. No place is when directly hit by a tornado. There was numerous tornadoes surrounding us at different times. It was a constant threat…one we didn’t want to live with.

Our decision was easily achieved. We felt the inevitable would happen if we didn’t move. We got out of Kansas!

One of the first things I do every morning is check the news. And one of the first articles that caught my eye, was Kansas Tornadoes. But what I didn’t expect to see is that a town, not seven miles from where we lived, was literally wiped off the map by a half-mile wide tornado. Chapman, Kansas, a small town in Dickinson County was hit by a tornado last night. Reports are that two people died. It destroyed 60 homes and businesses, and all three schools. My heart goes out to these people. You can rebuild homes, schools, and businesses, but you can’t rebuild people. God Bless the residents of Chapman, Kansas.
