Morgan Freeman in Memphis Hospital following car crash
By PK | August 4, 2008
Morgan Freeman is in serious condition at the Med Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee following a one-car accident in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi about 100 miles south of Memphis last night. He is said to make a full recovery from a broken shoulder and arm. The vehicle, a 1997 Nissan Maxima, in which he was traveling flipped over several times. He and a female passenger were rescued from the vehicle using the “Jaws Of Life”.
The woman’s condition is unknown.
Alcohol was reportedly not a factor in the wreck.
Freeman was born in Memphis, Tennessee, made his acting debut at an early age of 8, playing the lead role in a school play. Raised by his grandmother in Mississippi since infancy, he won a statewide drama competition at the age of 12. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1955, and by the early 1960s moved to Los Angeles. To read more about Morgan Freeman’s career and life, click here.
The Med is an acute-care teaching facility that serves patients within a 150 radius of Memphis. My twin sons were born at the Med back in 1981. They were premature, had complications, as did myself, and I owe our lives to this fantastic hospital. Morgan Freeman is in good hands there.

What a shock! I do wish him and his passenger a speedy recovery, it’s amazing an invention the “jaws of life” and to come out with just a broken shoulder, my God he is lucky.
